STEPHEN STARK, was born in Conway, N. H., March 5, 1803. His father, Samuel Stark, was a nephew of Gen. John Stark, of revolutionary celebrity. He was prepared for college, at Fryeburg, Me., under the tuition of Rev. Amos J. Cook. After graduating, he studied law, one year, with Joel Eastman, Esq., in Conway, N. H.; and, two years, with Bradley & Barrows, Esqrs., in Fryeburg, Me. He was admitted to the bar, in 1830, and, in October, of that year, opened an office in Clifton, Me., where he continued until October 1, 1837; at which date he removed to Waterville, Me., where be has since practised his profession.
He was two years, a Representative, and is now a Senator, in the Maine Legislature.
He was married, October 29, 1832, to Miss Mehitable J. Cook, of Fryeburg, Me. He has had six children; five of whom, Elizabeth C., Rebecca M., Sarah D., Hannah M., and Amos C., are living.
