ELIPHALET PEARSON, a son of the late Samuel
Pearson, was born in Hopkinton, N. H., October 20, 1802. He pursued his preparatory studies, at Warner, N. H., with Rev. John Woods; at Boscawen, with Samuel Wood, D. D.; and at Pembroke Academy, under the tuition of Hon. John Vose.
After graduating, he taught a select school, in Waterford, N. Y., three months; and studied law, in the same place, with Doe & Kimball, Esqrs. In May, 1830, he commenced practice in Waterford, N. Y., where he remained one year, and then removed to Ticonderoga, N. Y.; in May, 1835, he removed to Moriah, N. Y.; in September, 1838, to Troy, N. Y.; and, in April, 1850, to Waltham, Mass.; where he now resides, making Boston his place of business.
He was married, September, 1831, to Miss Caroline Sherwood, of Waterford, N. Y. She died in 1836, and he was again married, in 1837, to Mrs. Salome Brown, of Westport, N. Y. He has had six children ; of whom, Mary, George, Caroline, Martha, and Eliphalet, are living.
