Class Meeting
Wednesday evening, July 28, 1852. Twelve of the members of the class of 1827, met at the house of Daniel Blaisdell, Esq., in
Hanover, N. H ; viz. BLAISDELL, CLEVELAND, CROSBY, EASTMAN, JENNISON, KITTREDGE, PATTEN, PEARSON, PILLSBURY, TENNEY, WHEELER, and WORCESTER.
The venerable Professor Shurtleff, who took an active part in the instruction of the class, Hon. Ira Perley, particular Tutor, during Freshman and Sophomore years, and Adams Moore, M. D., partial Tutor during the same period, were present by invitation. The class were affectionately addressed by each of these gentlemen, and commended, in a fervent prayer, by Dr. Shurtleff, to the blessing of Heaven. An hour, subsequent to the withdrawal of their guests, was passed in delightful intercourse, and the meeting closed with a resolution to assemble, the next morning, at
5 1/2 o'clock, at the office of classmate Blaisdell.
Thursday morning, July 29. Met agreeably to resolution. Present, as last evening, with the addition of classmate BALDWIN.* Organized by the choice of classmate Cleveland as Moderator, and classmate Blaisdell as Secretary.
Letters from absent members, in reply to the invitation to be present at the meeting, were read by the Secretary.
Brief statements of personal history were then commenced, and continued until 7
1/2 o'clock, when the class adjourned to partake of a breakfast, which had been previously arranged.
After the removal of the cloth, the business above-named was resumed and completed.
Classmate Blaisdell was appointed Permanent Secretary of the class.
Classmate Worcester was requested to prepare a catalogue of al who have ever been connected with the class, with brief historical notices of each, and cause the same to be printed for their private use.
Classmates Teeny, Worcester, and Crosby, were appointed committee to prepare a note to Dr. Shurtleff, expressive of our respect and deep sense of obligation.
Classmates Cleveland, Blaisdell, and Crosby, were appointed to prepare a similar note to Hon. Ira Perley.
The above committees immediately attended to their duty; the respective notes were approved, signed by each member of the class and communicated. The meeting then adjourned to the day pre ceding Commencement, in
1857.
* Classmate CONVERSE arrived soon
after the adjournment.
