A son of Abel Hutchins, Esq., was born in Concord, N. H., July 10, 1805. He was prepared for college at Capt. Partridge's Military School, in Windsor, Vt., and at Pembroke Academy, under the tuition of Hon. John Vose. After graduating, he studied law, with Samuel Fletcher, Esq., of Concord, N. H., and Hon. Richard Fletcher, of Boston, Mass. He was admitted to the bar, in 1830, and practised law, in Concord, as partner with Hon. George Kent, and on his individual account, until his decease, which occurred from congestion of the brain, April 6, 1851.
He was, for several years, Treasurer of the New Hampshire Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and of several other important corporations.
"At a meeting of the Merrimack Bar, April 8, 1851, on the an
announcement of the recent death of Hamilton Hutchins, Esq.," a committee, of which Gen. Franklin Pierce, was Chairman, reported the following, among other resolutions which were unanimously adopted :
"Resolved, That the strict integrity, and honor, the intelligence, the courteous manners, and amiable disposition, of the deceased, in all his connections with us, as members of the Bar, have at all times, obtained for him that high regard and esteem, which he has so long and so worthily received from all who knew him in the other relations of life."
Mr. Hutchins was married, October 30, 1845, to Miss Mary Chandler, a daughter of Daniel Chandler, of Lexington, Mass. She died, November 30, 1845.
