Was born in Hadley, Mass., April 11, 1807. His father was the late John Hopkins, Esq., of Northampton, Mass.
Mr. Hopkins was prepared for college at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass. After graduating, he completed the course of theological study at Andover, Mass., in September, 1831; and during the subsequent October, was ordained pastor of the congregational church, in Montpelier, Vt. He was dismissed, in May, 1835, and, in February, 1836, was installed in Saco, Me. In December, 1844, his pastoral relation in Saco, was dissolved, but be has since been a resident of that place.
He was married, May, 1832, to Miss Caroline W. Dwight, of Northampton, Mass. He has had five children; of whom, Elizabeth, George, Isabella Thompson, and Margarette Dwight, are living.
