JAMES MORRIS CHASE, a son of Moody Chase, was born in Cornish, N. H., April 4,1800.
He was prepared for college, at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., under the preceptorship of John Adams, Esq.
After graduating, in the autumn of 1827, he took charge of a private school in Shelby Co., Ky., which he taught ten years; during which time,
he also studied theology under the care of the Louisville Presbytery, and, by that body, was licensed to preach, in 1831.
In 1837, be removed to Macomb, Ill., where he has since resided, cultivating a farm, and supplying several churches which be has gathered in the vicinity.
He was married, in 1832, to Miss Sauna A. Venable, of Shelby Co., Ky.
She died, September 29, 1851. He has seven children;--Henry, Joseph Venable, James Morris, Albert Moody, William
Thomas, George Francis, and Mary Alice.
