JOHN BATCHELDER, a son of Zachariah Batchelder, was born in Wendell, N. H., July 18, 1801.
He was prepared for college at the academy in Bradford, Mass., under the tuition of Benjamin Greenleaf, Esq.
After graduating, he completed the course of theological study at Andover, Mass., in 1830.
From the spring of 1831 to that of 1833, he was occupied in clerical services in Barrington, Pawtuxet, and Providence, R. I.; from the summer of 1833 to that of 1838,
he was settled in Jacksonville, Ill.; and, in the spring of 1839, he settled in Burlington, Iowa, as an Episcopal clergyman, and resides there at this time.
He was married, May, 1833, to Miss Hannah Gooding, of Providence, R. I.
He has one son, Matthew G.
